This book is intended to teach spoken Egyptian Arabic to a beginning student through a combination of the grammar translation and audiolingual teaching methods. Contains twenty chapters, each arranged around a specific grammatical feature of the language. (e.g., feminine noun and adjective, the strong trilateral verb-past tense, and the possessive (genitive) case.) Stresses memorization of translated material (given in English and in transcripted Egyptian Arabic). Increases the length and continuity of passages to be memorized with later chapters. Contains substitution, translation, and composition exercises. Provides grammatical information after Arabic transcriptions.
